NOOOOOOOO!
I don’t understand how this could of happened? A right-wing, upper-class, Eton prefect who only got into politics because his dad was already an elected tory MP becomes Major of London! (Does he even live in London - wasn’t he previously the MP for Henley?)
Oh well apparently he’s a keen cyclist so maybe it’s not all bad - though I do feel this is what it must have been like to be an american who didn’t vote for Bush?!

Time to vote for who’s gonna be the big boss round London. Why anyone would vote for this man is beyond my understanding?!:

Biggin up my mum’s mad art skillz
So I have to say a massive congratulations to the artist Rydal Hanbury (my mum) for winning a competition at the Tower of London, which essentially meant that one of her drawings got blown up to over 90ft high to cover the central tower while it’s being refurbished for the next three years!
We all went down to the unveiling this morning, and there was a surprising amount of press coverage there, in fact you can watch the lunchtime report from BBC London news here. I was also very interested to find out that apparently getting a picture blown up and printed to that size costs £35,000! (good job it wasn’t in colour?!)

Dalston Oxfam Shop
This is a great little blog by a guy called Todd Hart who basically buys up old cassette tapes from the Oxfam shop in Dalston then digitizes them and shares them on his site. Having a quick flick through I’ve found some pretty cool tracks by Gill Scott-Heron, Groove Train and a nice James Brown mix by Matt Black (right-click and select “Save Target As” on the links). www.dalstonoxfamshop.blogspot.com

Thanks for the link Chris

The Great Trafalgar Square Freeze
I took part in an interesting event on Saturday, the ‘Great Trafalgar Square Freeze’. The basic idea is you get loads of people to gather in one place (I heard about it through the magic of facebook), a trumpet then sounds and everyone freezes into a position leaving others wondering what’s going on.
Anyway it was quite a spectacle, and really interesting to gauge people’s reactions - someone has put together a video of the event here, also check out the New York video which for some reason seemed more effective …
1 commentFuture of Web Design Conference
Although I missed it last year I’m gonna try and get work to pay for me to go on this, it’s in London on April the 17th and 18th. Looks like there’s gonna be some good speakers, also alot about usability/user centered design - rather than just how to make shiny buttons!:
